Child in Need of Aid

“Child In Need of Aid” cases, often known by their acronym “CINA,” are cases where the State of Alaska, through the Office of Children’s Services (“OCS”) has taken, or threatens to take legal and/or physical custody of children away from their parent(s) or legal custodians.  These cases often involve both state and federal law.  The legal procedure and the scope of parental rights affected by these cases are often complex and confusing.  We represent parents, grandparents, foster parents, tribal entities, “Indian custodians,” even the children themselves or any other interested party involved in the case.  It is very important when OCS becomes involved in a family to consult with an attorney about your rights and what options you have.
